• Another way to achieve unity is continuation. This is a far more subtle device than proximity or repetition.
  • Continuation means that some type of element in the composition simply continues - this could be a line, an edge, or a direction from one form or element to another. (The device of an implied line has been utlized in the form of continuation in this example.)
  • This example illustrates how lining up various shapes with a continuation of edges is a practical solution to a design.
