• Space is the area in which a design is created. Depending on the visual communication you have created, you also have the potential to create a design that has some interactivity.
  • Many art forms are three-dimensional and therefore occupy space. In two-dimensional art forms such as paintings, drawings, photography, and prints, an artist will often have a desire to create a feeling of space or depth. In this case, space becomes an illusion, because the compositions rendered on the work surface are essentially flat.
  • Positive space - the elements of a visual communication that first catch our eye - is considered the forefront of a design. Negative space is considered the background.
