• Colour has three properties. The first property of colour is hue. Hue simply refers to the name of a colour.
  • There are three primary colours – red, yellow and blue.
  • There are three secondary colours – orange, green and violet. Secondary colours are made from mixing two primary colours together.
  • There are six tertiary colours. Tertiary colours are made from mixing a primary colour and a secondary colour together: red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet are the resulting tertiary colours.
  • It is important to understand that we are referring to pigment and not light in this example, relative to the mixing of colours.
