• Colours change according to their surroundings. Even in the same light, a colour will appear differently depending on the colours that are adjacent to it.
  • This is called the spreading effect.
  • Visual differences are caused by the various background colours that the other colours are placed against. 
  • Some colours are more susceptible to change than others. 
  • With pure and vibrant colours, optical changes are slighter. 
  • Grayed and neutral colours (called broken colours) will constantly change in different contexts.
